‘Out – and into the World”
Paintings by Tim Parr

Icetank is pleased to host a new solo exhibition by the contemporary British artist Tim Parr.
Parr is presenting a new series of oil paintings which are concerned with the nature of work and how this can bring meaning and belonging.
Parr approaches his subject like a formalist, juxtaposing the figure with domestic textile designs from the home, often from unusual viewpoints. This creates a tension between the painting’s flatness and the illusionistic depth of shadows and form.

Parr completed a BA in painting at Glasgow School of Art before graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2002. Parr has exhibited internationally, including exhibitions at Galeria Thomas Cohn in Sao Paulo and Keith Talent Gallery in London. He has been included in the RA Summer exhibition in 2021. Parr’s work is in collections including the David Roberts Art Foundation, London and EMA, Brazil.

I’m thrilled to have been included in this year’s Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition. This year, the Summer Exhibition has been coordinated by the artist Yinka Shonibare RA. The exhibition will explore the theme of ‘Reclaiming Magic’ and celebrate the joy of creating art. I’ll be showing ‘Distribution Centre’ 2021.
